A Closer Look at Dog Mange

My friend had a dog suffering from dog mange. Mange is a type of skin irritation that can be very itchy. If your dog has it, it would incessantly scratch its skin until it is red and flaky. That’s exactly how dog mange looks like. And it isn’t very attractive at all.

Dog mange is also referred to as scabies. Dogs that have it are very irritable. I remember my friend’s dog refusing to take a bath. Whenever its owner try to put the dog in the shower it would react violently and run away. It acts like a cat at the sight and sound of water.

Why it acts like that I never got to find out. But the biggest mistake my friend did is just to let his do be. And because his dog isn’t getting his regular shower, scabies developed in its skin.

The saddest part of the story is that the dog died a few months after. What seems to be a patch of red in his foot spread all over his body. Soon, every inch of its body is covered with mange and it is impossible for the vet to treat it.

So for everybody else that has this problem, take your pet to the vet right away. If your dog doesn’t want to take a bath, don’t just let it be. It would be the start of bigger problems in the future. It could also mean the life of your pet.
